Katie Wagner offers private piano lessons in her home studio in Rapid City. Miss Wagner tailors a program for each student using several methods depending on the specific needs of the pupil, always honoring their uniqueness and learning style.

Katie’s philosophy:

“It is my joy to share my love for the piano with my students. I focus on teaching the young beginner a solid, healthy technique with an emphasis on beauty of sound and expression that leads to confident and sensitive playing. ”

Katie Wagner trained with Lana Bodnar, who descends from a long line of Russian musicians. Ms. Bodnar is the founder of The Music and Arts Conservatory of Santa Barbara. It was Katie’s great privilege to study piano with Lana first while earning her B.A. in Music from the University of California in Santa Barbara. Ms. Wagner continues to consult with Ms. Bodnar.

Monthly Fees:  $90 for four 30 minute lessons; $125 for four 45 minute lessons and $160 for four 60 minute lessons (if there happen to be 5 lessons in a month it is no extra charge)*

*[Update May 2026: Going forward – a new policy. To make room for serious students in the primetime after school hours I will be referring (with advanced notice) where appropriate, students whose lessons are repeatedly canceled, piano practice not taken seriously and there is no serious intent to obtain a decent piano by the parents (some use short electric “keyboards”). I’m very sorry to do this, however when I reserve a time which no other student can use yet no student appears at that assigned hour and this means denying lessons to an eager student, then such a policy becomes necessary.
